free trade agreement with indonesia
On 1st November 2021, the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) agreement with Indonesia will enter into force in the form of an economic partnership. This means that 98 percent of customs duties on Swiss exports to Indonesia will be eliminated.
The Economic Partnership Agreement provides for the gradual abolition of Indonesian import duties on Swiss exports. It also contains clauses on the protection of investments and intellectual property, the reduction of existing further trade barriers and sustainable development.
It is the first free trade agreement signed by the world’s fourth most populous country with a European community of states. The European Union has been negotiating its own free trade agreement with the island state for several years.
